Currently, in the face of the energy shortage, lack of resources and environment pollution, how to do well the work of building energy conservation has become a serious issue for humanity. Public building is the main part of a city and the main consumers of energy and resources. The office building has the biggest number in the public building, playing an important role. How to take full advantage of natural lighting to save energy in office building has attracted more and more domestic and international attention from all over the world. Window designing of office building has always been a top priority in energy-saving work. The size of the window area has a direct impact on the energy consumption and the building’s interior lighting. Generally speaking, a larger window area has a better natural lighting effect. On the contrary, a larger window area will increase the heat gain of solar radiation, increasing the air conditioning energy consumption.An office room model has been set as the research object in ECOTECT and Designbuilder. ECOTECT and Designbuilder are used to do the simulation of daylighting environment and energy consumption. After that an experiment was made to verify the simulation results. The comparision of simulation results and the experiment shows that the model setting is correct and the software is reliable. An office building was taken as a model to discuss the lighting energy consumption,heating and cooling energy consumption by changcing the window design, such as window to wall ratio, hollow Low-E glass,external sunshade and lighting control, finding the better window to wall ratio in different window condition.The following conclusions can be reached by simulation analysis:① The simulation results and experimental results show that according to the illumination, the natural lighting can meet at least more than half of the area of the office room from 9:00am to 17:00pm in the condition of clear days in Chongqing summer. The energy saving potential is great.② In Chongqing, when the lighting control is not used, whether the hollow Low-E glass or external sunshade, the energy saving effect is not very obvious. When hollow Low-E glass is used, the window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.5. When the external shading is used, window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.6.③ In Chongqing, when lighting control is used, energy saving effect is remarkable. When lighting control is used alone, window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.4. When the lighting control and the hollow Low-E glass are used, the window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.5. When the lighting control and external sunshade are used, the window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.5.④ In Beijing, when lighting control is not used, hollow Low-E glass is better than external sunshade at the energy saving effect. When the hollow Low-E glass is used, window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.5. When the external sunshade is used, window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.6.⑤ In Beijing, when lighting control is used, the energy saving effect is obvious. When lighting control is used alone, window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.4. When the lighting control and the hollow Low-E glass are used, the window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.5. When the lighting control and external sunshade are used, the window wall ratio should be controlled at 0.6.⑥ Whether in Beijing or in Chongqing, for the sake of air conditioning energy consumption effect in summer, the external sunshade is better than the hollow Low-E glass window. On the contrary, for the sake of air conditioning energy consumption effect in winter, the hollow Low-E glass has a better result. From the perspective of the annual energy saving effect, hollow Low-E glass is more suitable in Beijing.⑦ The lighting environment in southern and northern dynasties building is better than the building on 30 degrees east of south. As a result, the southern and northern building has a higher energy saving rate when using lighting control.
