Brakes are applied widely as the safety protection device in equipment of transportation and industry. The operation reliability of equipment is influenced directly by braking tribological behavior whose variation law is difficult to be found because of numerous influencing factors. And the influence of different factors on tribological behavior of brakes has been the research focus of brake tribology for a long time. Although magnetic field has obvious impact on braking properties since large numbers of machines work in the field of electricity and magnetism, researches about the influence of magnetism on tribological behavior of brakes are superficial. Thus, the research about influential mechanism of magnetic field on tribological behavior of brakes will have important value of theory and practice in extending tribological theory and application. The study of influential law that magnetism makes on friction pairs and analysis of the influential mechanism. Firstly, the brake friction testing equipment was reconstructed to take magnetic brake friction tests. Both the hardware and software of measurement and control system of the testing equipment were designed including measurement system, data acquisition system and data processing system. Especially, the design, optimization and finite element simulation of theory of magnetic field were taken in this paper. Secondly, based on the theory of wavelet analysis, the study about the brake friction process of brakes was taken and the characteristic parameters of friction, wear and temperature in the process of brake were redefined. Besides, continuous brake tests were made under different magnetic conditions. Finally, based on the theory of brake tribology, the influence and its mechanism of magnetic field on the surface of friction pairs of brake were analyzed by some microscopic analysis tools such as electron microscope and energy spectrum. Research results show that the extracted feature parameters to comprehensive and accurate characterization of braking process;Brake tribology experiment results can really reflect the magnetic field on the friction pair brake tribological effect; Friction brake surface microscopic analysis can fully and comprehensively explain the tribological mechanism that influence to the friction pair brake in the magnetic field.
