The Preliminary Exploration And Practice On China’s Glulam Architecture Design

Architecture development cannot do without the progress of material technology, the emergence of the glulam has greatly improved the defects and shortcomings of natural wood. Glued laminated timber as ecological renewable building materials, due to its characteristic of material and structure and aesthetic value has been widely used in developed countries. As represented by Glulam’s trying and practice in Chinese market, Mass Timber construction is gradually being recognized by the community and the market, and there have been some excellent modern Wood-structure buildings. This paper attempts to do empirical research based on the application and practice of the glulam building in our country, through participation in the practice of glued laminated timber building design, to explore China’s glulam architecture design, mining application value in the contemporary Chinese glulam in architecture.This paper first discusses the glulam construction, wooden building international market background, and the current situation of domestic glulam building theory research and practical application, then analyze the buildings’ elements of modern glulam construction from the aspect of the material properties, structural form and node structure. Through the study and cases of typical laminated wood construction works. On this basis, Investigation and Analysis on the representative glulam building of our country which has been built, to summarized the characteristics and application situation of glulam building in china from three aspects of the use of materials, construction structure system and the design of nodes. Finally, combined with the participation of glulam construction case, further explore the way of glulam building design.Hope that through this study of glulam construction, attract more people interested in glulam construction, and triggered a discussion and research on the broader, more in-depth, re interpretation of the traditional Chinese wood construction, to provide a reference for the design of China’s glulam architecture design.
