| Lacking of frost durability continues to be a significant problem for concrete in cold region while concrete is widely used. Severe freeze-thaw damage can influence the safety and service life of concrete structures. Pavement icing affect traffic safety while the de-icing solutions present used commonly having different degrees of defects. This paper introduced the superhydrophobic(SH) coating to improve frost resistance and anti-icing properties of concrete. The research studies the influence of SH coating which produced at low cost on the concrete properties of frost resistance and anti-icing. The research get SH coating by fluorinating the silica nanoparticles, then we get SH coating concrete by one step spraying. The article compared the hydrophobic effect by different treatment methods, and evaluated the basic performance of SH coating concrete consist of contact angle, water absorption, dipping depth and microstructure. In the study of the influence of SH coating on frost resistance of concrete, the results show that due to the SH coating can’t penetrate into pores existing on concrete surface and the lack of durability it cannot improve frost resistance effectively. But air entraining treatment combine with SH coating can improve the frost resistance of concrete effectively. Finally, we studied the effect of SH coating on the anti-icing and icephobic properties of concrete. The water drops become ice balls and the roll away easily when the SH surface has an inclining angle. The water drops become ice balls and the roll away easily when the SH surface has an inclining angle. SH coating increases ice barrier which can slow the freeze time. In addition, SH coating prevents the icing in the pores of concrete surface as well as reducing the intensity of the ice effectively, and it forms icephobic surface which can reduce the adhesion of ice. According to the rough and porous surface structure of the concrete the empirical formula that describe the adhesive strength between ice and concrete surface is given in the article. |
