Reinforced concrete shear wall is the main member of high-rise structure to resist lateral force and subjected to the combined effect of axial forces, shear forces and bending moments. Under severe earthquakes it is prone to causing brittle shear failure or crushing failure and hard to rehabilitate after the earthquake. And the seismic performance of tall buildings is determined by the seismic performance of shear walls. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring lateral stiffness of shear walls, how to improve the ductility of shear walls is one of the key issues concerning seismic design. This paper adopts the concept of energy dissipation and seismic mitigation. The new energy dissipation shear walls and metallic dampers based on bending deformation of shear walls are studied. The main contents go as following:First of all, a new energy dissipation shear wall and metallic damper based on bending deformation of shear wall are proposed according to the mechanical characteristics of slit shear walls. And the mechanical model of metallic energy dissipation dampers is established. The yield mode of them and the corresponding requirements for design are also provided in this paper.Secondly, the correctness of both the mechanical model of metallic dampers and its yield model is verified through the finite element analysis. The influence of shape parameters on the maximum plastic strain and the cumulative plastic energy dissipation of metallic dampers are analyzed. Furthermore, the reasonable range of parameters about dampers is provided in this paper.In addition, the mechanical model of energy dissipation slit shear walls is established, based on the continuous method of connecting rod. The influence of the vertical shear stiffness of damper on the distribution of internal forces and deformation of energy dissipation slit shear walls is analyzed theoretically under different lateral load patterns. And the relationship between metallic dampers and the top drift of energy dissipation slit shear walls is established. Meanwhile, the design method of energy dissipation slit shear walls is given in this paper.Finally, the paper verifies the design method for energy dissipation slit shear wall through finite element analysis and highlights the influence of height-width ratio and shear deformation on the energy dissipation of metallic dampers. The results show that the shear deformation of wall limbs can reduce the energy dissipation of metallic energy dampers.
