Along with the development of CFD, hydrodynamic coefficients of ship and marine engineering, mainly depending on physical model tests in the past, have developed to the application of computational fluid dynamics numerical solution methods. Is well known that ship’s movement is a complex fluid-structure interaction boundary research, to carry out physical simulation experiment of ship and marine engineering imitation, pseudo three phase flow numerical tank solver included water, gas and solid was established in this paper, combined with the IBM and VOF. In the IBM-VOF numerical model, the pressure increment projection method was used for solving N-S equation based on the Cartesian grid system, the PLIC method for tracking update grid fluid volume proportion was used for simulating the changes of free surface flow field. In order to avoid the numerical error in solving the complex ship line pressure caused by the boundary surface in the process of ship and offshore structure’s surface boundary force, the method of IBM volume force was used. In order to verify the adaptability of the algorithm, the typical mid ship section of S60 ship model were tested based on the numerical model of IBM-VOF in the numerical wave tank. The calculation results show that, the added mass and damping coefficient of the calculation results are in good agreement with previous CFD-RANS numerical experimental data. This proved that IBM-VOF model can be used to solve the hydrodynamic simulation about ship. The IBM-VOF numerical model was used to carry out the simulation and analysis of the typical ship’s hydrodynamic in this paper. At first, testing the S60 model’s rolling oscillation simulation, further validated the accuracy and reliability of the IBM-VOF method in the treatment of hydrodynamic performance. At last, combined with the strip theory, numerical simulation of hydrodynamic about the S175 container ship was calculated by using IBM-VOF numerical model. The calculation results show that the hydrodynamic coefficients results, based on IBM-VOF method and CFD-RANS numerical method, are basically the same. Meanwhile, compared with the hydrodynamic coefficients calculated based on the AQWA software, IBM-VOF method can consider the nonlinear factors in numerical simulation, the results are more close to the actual situation, indicated that the IBM-VOF method is feasible and effective in solving the problems of the dynamic performance of ships and marine engineering, helpful to expand marine numerical towing tank in engineering application and also provides a new possibility for the accurate prediction of ship sea-keeping.
