MMC-MTDC is a new power transmission technology. Using full controlled electronic devices, compared with the traditional high voltage direct current transmission mode, it has the characteristics of flexible, fast, independent regulation of active and reactive power; based on the topology of a MMC, it can reduce the loss, improve the quality of output waveform, reduce the manufacturing difficulty and enhance the fault handling capacity; construction of multi-system, it can realize the multi power supply and multi terminal power, which is more flexible and convenient. The technology can be applied into the widespread application prospects, such as new energy electric power access, isolated power supply, power grid interconnection, asynchronous load center of power supply and so on,In this paper, based on the operation experience of Nan Ao HVDC-flexible system, the main research is as follows:(1) The working principle of HVDC-flexible system. Analysis of the main wiring way, working principle and parameters of key equipment, the control system configuration and function.(2) Study of VSC-HVDC loss. Analysis of the composition of the loss, the calculation method and experimental method, and the experimental results are discussed.(3) The feasibility of the operation mode of the system. Analysis of 14 kinds of initial operation mode, the feasible mode of providing daily and maintenance mode, and the corresponding risk assessment.(4) Study the system power flow control strategy. Using BPA software to simulate the Nan Ao HVDC-flexible system, put forward the feasible power control scheme.
