The releasing device with safety valve is a kind of protection installation which is called the last wall of guarantee of safety in the producing system. It is set to prevent the pressure vessel and pipeline from overpressure burst in the course of using. However, the safety releasing system itself may also go wrong and as a result, has certain influence on its regular function. Thus, it’s critical to take some actions as identifying and analyzing the potential failure forms, deciding possible errors with qualitative and quantitative methods, discerning probably existing hazard in advance, pre-alarming and taking emergent measures. This paper conducts some primary study on characteristic parameter and fault property of safety valve. Following works have been down by computer simulation and experiments.Research on error diagnosing and identifying: using various experiment data and curve of online and offline testing of safety valve to analyze and sort typical characteristics of damage curve. The main data include displacement, velocity, pressure, Mach number and lift force, etc.Study on simulation technology of fault and its feature: utilizing 3-D modeling to conduct the simulating analysis of typical fault feature. The main faults simulated include tremor, spring stiffness change, spring fault while tremor is considered majorly in two conditions which are steadily releasing stage and reseating stage. According to the data of simulation, there are apparent change of displacement and velocity of valve disc during the tremor. On the other hand, the simulation of spring stiffness change indicates that the change of spring rigidity can be acceptable in certain range. Simulation of spring fault acts a practical role of reference to spring compression distance. According to the result analyzing and fault feature identifying, the change of correlative kinetic and flow parameters during the tremor and spring stiffness changing is quite easy to distinguish.Experimental test of fault diagnosing and identifying: conduct the opening experiment with fault of safety valve by using the sensor of displacement, lift force, and valve disk which are developed domestically in our lab and then compare the previous fault simulation result with the experiment data of opening and reseating. With regard of experiment data, the corresponding fault feature is studied by analyzing and comparing. The study is mainly aimed at experiments of tremor and spring fault. At the same time, inquiry experiments on fault of disk offset have also been conducted.Experiments shows that the technology of testing the opening procedure of safety valve which consists of sensor, data acquisition device and computer plays a significant role in identifying safety valve fault, monitoring its opening property and improving safety performance of pressure-bearing system.
