With the development of thermal power plant unit towards high-capacity and high-parameters, safe and stable operation in power plants becomes more and more important. Boiler is an important part of the power plant, whether it is stable and safe operation or not is an important factor affecting the power plant unit. Heattransfer surfaces of power plant are survived in the harsh environment with high temperature and high pressure, which will lead to the change of its macroscopic properties and microstructure with serving time. The quality of the heating surface material has become an important factor directly affecting boiler safety and economic operation. The properties of the heating surface material have always been an important task of monitoring the safety of the boiler.Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS), whose analytical technique is based on atomic emission spectroscopy, is widely used in applications of fossilenergy, soil analysis, air pollution prevention and control and so on. Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy possesses lots of advantages, such as slight destruction, suitable for any sample forms, without sample pretreatment, as well as multi-element simultaneous measurement, etc. Meanwhile, LIBS also exists obvious matrix effect. In this paper, we will take full advantage of matrix effects to analyze the spectral characteristics and predict the different service status of TP347 H boiler heat-resistant steel.Firstly, weintroducedthe background and significance of this study and summarize the traditional heating surface material failure analysis technology in detail. We taken a brief introduction of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy technology,and thenfocused on the research status of LIBS technology at home and abroad in the field of metal.Secondly we compared the spectral characteristics of the heating surface material TP347 H under polished or not. With the deeply analysis of the difference between the part been polished and other, we found the parameter of normal sample is bigger for the polished part.Then we compared the spectral characteristics of the different states of TP347 H.We analyzedthe relevance between different levels of plasma parameters and grain size. Finally, we analyzed the different service status TP347 H material spectral data with principal component analysis. It provedthat principal component analysis can be usedto distinguish different service state of TP347 H materials.At last, we made a conclusion of the full text and summarize the innovative point of this paper and make a suggestion of the further work.
