The main research method of propeller numerical simulation includes potential flow method and viscous flow method. The potential flow method has developed relatively completely. It has been widely used in the propeller design and performance prediction. Also, the viscous flow method has been used to predict the cavitation and noise. These two methods both have advantages and disadvantages. The potential flow method failed to consider the fluid viscosity, but its computation speed is fast. The viscous flow method can capture the flow field clearly, but it calculates quite time-consuming. This paper combines the advantages of two methods, exploring the viscous/potential coupling method application in propeller performance predictionSurface panel method was adopted to predict the propeller performance. Pressure and circular rector distribution was analyzed in this paper. Also, the accuracy influence of linear trailing vortex model and shrinkage vortex model was discussed.Propeller open water performance was discussed by fluent software. The numerical results were of a great agreement with the model experimental results. The axial circumferential and radial velocity at the propeller disk and vortices distribution was analyzed. This part laid the basic study of model building of trailing vortex model. The trailing vortex model adopted by the viscous/potential coupling method is based on viscous flow prediction result. Thus, this paper firstly extracted the main wake field parameters by the post-processing software and figure out the mathematical expressionsby data analysis software. Secondly, Pressure and circular rector distribution was analyzed by the new wake model. The numerical results were of a great agreement with the model experimental results which prove the feasibility of viscose/potential coupling method. The effect of viscosity correction to the rotating torque coefficient is also discussed. Finally, the calculation precision of three methods was compared.
