Standard is the root of the measurement. But a complete set of non-contact measurement specifications has not appeared in the applications of geometric digital measuring technology at present. Many companies appear such problems as the repeatability and reproducibility of measurement results. This problem is more severe during the process of automotive body in white non-contact measurement, so it is necessary to formulate a non-contact measurement specification for automotive body.In this paper, according to the characteristics and requirements of automobile body sheet metal parts and welding, on the basis of the comprehensive analysis and research on the related measurement technology and standards at home and abroad, focus on research work on non-contact measurement specifications applying to the practical production, the main work and result are shown as below:1) The structure characteristics and the status quo of the measurement of automobile body parts were analyzed, on the basis of the analysis of the uncertainty, operator technology was proposed and the main content of the non-contact measurement specification was obtained.2) The work process and control requirement of geometric digital measurement were studied, the normal principles and process normal methods from drawing interpretation were developed, the measurement constrain and conditions were applied, through the whole process of implementation and relevant experiments, many key operation parameters of non-contact measurement system were confined, and the reasonable and suitable of parameter setting was verified.3) According to the actual situation of Shanghai automobile company, combining the analysis of the non-contact technical measurement specification, the non-contact measurement standard suitable to automobile body parts and a lot of experiments were made, proved that the non-contact measurement results were stable and acceptable according to these methods.4) The result of this paper was the study of geometric specifications for the establishment of a non-contact measurement system, complex object-oriented methods, and research results to the establishment of other geometric specifications for the measurement object played the same reference role.
