In recent years, the truss transfer system has gradually become the most widely used transfer system instead of beam transfer system for the advantage of its architectural function and seismic behavior. On the background of the multilayer vierendeel steel truss transfer system in a RC frame shear structure, structural behavior of the multilayer vierendeel steel truss and its key joints, combining with previous research results and engineering practice, are researched emphatically in this paper, and the results could be used as a supplement of implemented design calculation by software PMSAP.Main contents in this paper are as follows. Firstly, design ideas and principles of vierendeel steel truss transfer system are introduced. Secondly, by use of finite element analysis program SAP2000, response spectrum analysis and elastic-plastic time-history analysis are used to analyze multilayer vierendeel transfer truss simplified model in the project. Bearing capacity of truss members are checked under moderate earthquake. The yield order of member plastic hinge and failure law of vierendeel transfer truss are explored under severe earthquake. Finally, by use of finite element analysis program ABAQUS, structural behavior of vierendeel truss key joints are analyzed. According to the results, detail design measures of truss joints are concluded. As the consequences show that the advantages of multilayer vierendeel steel truss used as a transfer system in high-rise building are very outstanding. It has a larger vertical stiffness in normally utilized status. Compared with beam type transfer systems, multilayer vierendeel steel truss transfer system has effectively decreased earthquake action and adverse impact by cutting self-weight and lateral stiffness of transfer structure. Vierendeel truss shows an excellent structural behavior under moderate and severe earthquake and accomplishes different performance objectives. Detail design measures of truss joints, which weld steel cover-plates on flanges of truss web member, contribute to improve joint stress distribution as well as joint bearing capacity and stiffness. At last, based on the above research results, some design and detailing advices of the multilayer vierendeel steel truss transfer system are presented,to provide a reference for similar projects.
