Study On Landscape Renovation Of The Historic Districts

Historic street blocks, the important parts of history and culture, which preserved in the process of city development as previous culture heritage, are “living fossils” of human civilization and important spatial carriers of historical relics in the meantime.They are the streets and blocks enclosed by groups of buildings, telling the previous stories happened in this city bit by bit. However, with the continuous development of society, science and technology, people’s living standard have been tremendous improved. What comes along with this is the city expansion and renovation,which has changed the original appearance of historic blocks and resulted in big destruction.People in China have paid more attention to the landscape renovation of old streets compared to totally neglecting before. The concept of landscape had been gradually formed during the period of the Republic of China and deepen to the historic blocks.This made the urban historical landscape overall continued. At the beginning of the founding of China, on account of the large-scale construction, historic streets had being destroyed. After the reform and opening up, the urbanization in China has been rapidly improved. Modern construction was undertaken vigorously in some of the cities, and at the same time, the historic cultural landscapes have been damaged seriously. Due to this,Chinese scholars began to make a lot of exploration and Research on landscape conservation of historic street blocks.At the same time, with the improvement of protecting cultural relics in people’sawareness, the scope of protecting relics has been greatly broadened from building protection to historic blocks protection. And more and more relevant scientific theories has been put forward such as "organic renewal" theory, "micro circulation" theory. This article is going to discuss this issue from the integrity of landscape theory, and do the in-depth interpretation of the concept, nature, and elements of the overall landscape of the historic district. By analyzing Shanghai "New World", Hangzhou Southern Song Imperial Street, America Su River and Singapore’s China city, which are the representative cases that used the overall landscape design theory and design methods,the writer intends to summarize the methods of landscape designs used in history.This paper is based on the domestic and foreign historical block protection theory and researches.By using the example of renovating Beijing Yangmeizhuxie Street, the writer sumed up a model of landscape renovating which is mainly protecting the historic block’s "activity",considering the “vacate”as a reality at the same time. The writer encourages the residents to participate in their own designed streets and develop it to an ornamental form that "the walking people watching the living ones,and the livings ones watching the people walking" in order to recover and show the characteristics and vitality of the historic blocks to reach the aim of creating a distinctive image of the historic block landscape.
