Collapsible loess is a sort of soil with special characteristics, which will cause completely serious danger to the buildings with its intensification. Due to the difference of the accumulating environment of collapsible loess, the factors of the landform and age, its physical and mechanical properties have been differentiated. It can provide the reference for the project construction in this area so as to reduce the project loss caused by the collapsible transformation and insure the significant meaning of the safety of this project through the study of distribution and the collapsible mechanism of collapsible loess in this area. This paper based on “the Construction Standards in Collapsible Loess Area” and“Engineering Geology Manual”, it is to analyze and comprehensively study the structure of the landform and geology in this area to attain the collapsible level, the hiding depth and the distribution characteristics through collecting and arranging the field prospecting data in Luoyang area and the outdoor testing statistics. From the main factors influencing the loess, it is to adopt the mathematical statistic method to analyze the dry density of the collapsible index of the loess, the void ratio, and the change law of the plasticity index, and to use the spss software to build up the collapsible index and the regression equation between the influential factors so as to provide the reference for the project practice in Luoyang area.Through the mercury injection test of selecting typical collapsibility loess, it is to analyze the distribution characteristics and study the correlation of the collapsibility of the loess and the void ratio distribution law, finally obtaining the pore diameter most relevant to the pore diameter.
