Single-phase induction motor is mostly used in air-conditioning outdoor fan at present.Compared with single-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor,SPIM rotor has slip loss and low motor efficiency, but SP-PMSM at the same power has a higher efficiency and power factor. While SP-PMSM using rare earth permanent magnet material has high cost. This paper is to research the single-phase permanent magnet assisted reluctance synchronous motor used in- air-conditioning outdoor fan. The SP-PMa Syn RM has low flux density, is mainly used reluctance torque when operating and ferrite permanent magnet materials is available which has a higher price/performance ratio.This paper firstly makes a summarize about SPIM, SP-PMSM and AP-PMa Syn RM, then proposes the purpose,content and significance of research.Secondly, electromagnetic design is carried out on a basis of design requirement of a air-conditioning outdoor fan for the three types motor mentioned above. Two-dimensional finite element analysis with the help of Maxwell 2D has been conducted about the single phase motor performance, then the performance and cost of three single-phase motors are compared. Conclusion that SP-PMa Syn RM has the highest price/performance ratio has been drew. Thirdly, SP-PMa Syn RM has been further studied. Above all, relationship between rotor saliency ratio, no-load electromotive force and asynchronous torque, braking torque has been analyzed theoretically. Then effects caused by different winding turns ratio, run capacitor, stator and rotor resistance, and the rotor moment of inertia on motor starting performance have been discussed. At last, parameters as d-q axis armature reaction inductance, magnetic flux and winding resistance of SP-PMa Syn RM have been calculated. Fourthly, simulation of multi-domain physical fields has been conducted about SP-PMa Syn RM. Temperature field and stress field simulation about SP-PMa Syn RM has been analyzed based on ANSYS Workbench which verify the reasonableness of structural design for the SP-PMa Syn RM. At last, prototypes of the three types motor has been built, then field tests about no- load characteristics and load characteristics of the motors and no-load electromotive force of single-phase synchronous motor has been done. Comparative analysis on simulation results and field test results has been also presented.
