Thermal condition of the tire is one of the key factor of its useful life. In this paper, the research object is a mechanical elastic wheel. Firstly, the reasonable finite element model of this mechanical elastic wheel was established. Secondly, its force field, steady-state temperature field and unsteady-state temperature field were studied by using the finite element analysis software. Thirdly, a prediction model was put forward based on the steady-state temperature field’s research results, which laied the foundation for the structural design and material selection. Specific results are as follows.(1) The structure and working principle of the mechanical elastic wheel were discussed in detail, and the geometric model was established by using the three-dimensional modeling software CATIA on the basis of reasonable simplifications. The finite element mesh division, material properties and other preprocessing work by ANSYS software were performed. Static analysis was analyzed, and the results were compared with the results of the theoretical stress analysis to verify the reasonableness of the finite element model.(2) The stress-strain fitting was studied by using the Fourier series and MATLAB program language. Then, the heat generation of steady temperature field was calculated, which was used as the heat source. The steady-state temperature field was sudied by the use of ANSYS, and then the temperature distribution was obtained, and when v?km/h60, ?08.0sin ?, C22?T?, the maximum temperature reached C65?, and the influences of material parameters and tread width on the maximum temperature were analyzed. On the basis of finite element analysis, the prediction model of the maximum temperature was built, which provide guidance for the initial structure design and material choice of a mechanical elastic wheel.(3) Numerical analysis of friction heat was conducted. And then Hertz contact theory was applied to analyze the contact between the wheel and ground. The tread temperature formula was deduced according to the mechanism of friction heat, which provided a validation for the subsequent finite element analysis. The appropriate structural unit was selected, and friction heat research was done by combining ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical APDL, including two conditions: firstly, only considering hysteresis heat. Secondly, considering both hysteresis heat and friction heat. Finally, comparation analysis of two conditions was conducted and when v?km/h70, at the starting, temperature difference of two conditions was big, the maximum temperature of the latter reached C140?.
