In view of frequently happened semi-trailer train’s rollover accident, this paper takes a semi-trailer train as research object to establish multi-body dynamics model of semi-trailer train, then it has handling stability simulation test and simulation analysis of rollover stability. The main research work and achievements are as follows:1. Based on the analysis of semi-trailer train’s transportation and structure, it establishes mathematical model of semi-trailer train with five degrees of freedom and mathematical models of semi-trailer train’s static rollover, including vertical stiffness of tire and suspension as well as rigid suspension. Then, the paper analyzes the influence factor of semi-trailer train’s rollover stability and the cause of its rollover.2. It uses ADAMS to establish subsystem models of semi-trailer train, including front suspension model, rear suspension model, steering system model, power transmission system model, fifth wheel model, model of body and frame, tire model and so on. Besides, it establishes virtual prototype model by assembly, then it carries out simulation on it. Next, it proves the correctness of multi-body dynamics model by comparing simulation results and theoretical calculation results.3. It makes reference of handling stability test conditions, such as steering wheel impulse input test, steering wheel step angle input test, braking in a turn test, ISO double lane change test and so on. Then it uses the above semi-trailer train’s model to have simulation analysis of its rollover stability. So, it gets each influence factor of semi-trailer train’s rollover stability, changing relationship of variables as well as the law of development of rollover.4. It has simulation test of the danger of semi-trailer train’s rollover caused by lane change and steering, then it analyzes the influence of different rotational angles of steering wheel and speeds on semi-trailer train’s rollover stability. Thus, it gets the ultimate value of this semi-trailer train’s rollover when changing lane and turning the steering wheel, which has a certain reference value for semi-trailer train’s design and application.
