In geotechnical engineering, anti-slide pile is widely used for the project of side slope and foundation pit supporting. This kind of supporting structure has some advantages, such as well-adapted, short construction period, simple construction technology and low construction costs, etc. The soil arch effect theory is proposed since the last century 40’s, which attract the attention of scholars at home and abroad, and a lot of theoretical analysis, experiment simulation and numerical calculation were conducted to validate the theory. Under the effect of landslide thrust, the solid mass between the slide-resistant pile will result the inhomogeneous deformation due to the mutual extrusion, resulting in the principal stress deflection formed by anti-slide piles for virtual arch foot, and then transferred to the anti-slide pile along the arch axis. Soil arch can give the assistance to anti-slide pile, and affecting the design of the anti-slide pile supporting structure. In recent years, many domestic and foreign researches about pile and soil arching effect were conducted, Also put forward many influential words about the forming mechanism of the soil arch effect, the shape of arch, the stress mechanism of the soil arching, reasonable pile spacing and pile cross section design, but the soil arch effect played by more influencing factors, as a result, the formation of the soil arch effect and its influence on anti-slide pile design, has not yet formed by consensus theory and specifications.In this paper, on the basis of summarizing the predecessors’ literatures, continue to study the soil arch effect between anti-slide pile, the main work and research content are as follows:(1) First of all, the summarization of the research status of anti-slide pile and the soil arch effect between anti-slide pile, and put forward the main research purpose, significance and innovative points in this paper.(2) To analyze the formation mechanism of the soil arch effect between anti-slide piles and the arch feet, the shape of arch, the arch axis, and put forward natural equilibrium arch theory, then deduce rational arch axis based on the theory.(3) This paper mainly analyze the single row piles and double row piles on the simulated analysis of many effecting factors of the soil arch effect through the finite element software ABAQUS, not only proved the existence of the soil arch effect and the space characteristic of the soil arch, and summarizes the effect of different conditions on the soil arch effect.(4) The last point is deduced the methods for determining the pile spacing and baffle soil pressure based on the natural equilibrium arch theory, and contrast with other calculation methods of pile spacing and baffle soil pressure, proved that the proposed new method can be used for the design of the anti-slide pile in practical engineering.In this paper, on the basis of summarizing domestic and foreign literatures, proposed the new thought of pile spacing and baffle soil pressure calculation, and by applying the analysis software of ABAQUS, analysis the change rules of the soil arch effect of under the influence of different working conditions, and proposed make full use of the soil arch effect between piles, to the optimal design of anti-slide pile, has certain guiding significance and economic benefits in the engineering practice.
