Along with the development of infrastructure construction of highways and railways, all kinds of tunnel engineering is also accelerating the pace of construction. The stability of tunnel engineering and the control and analysis of the settlement and stress of surrounding rock is the top priorit y in the construction of tunnel engineering. The stability and the settlement of surrounding rock is influenced b y a series of factors such as the tunnel depth, the surrounding rock grade, the excavation step length and the excavation and supporting methods and many other factors. In the tunnel engineering design and construction, the factors mentioned must be considered fully, and the stability, security, practicability and compatibility must be guaranteed in the construction period and savings to the maximum extent to ensure the completion date and cost of the project.Based on the comprehensive understanding of the construction experience of current domestic tunnel project s. Numerical simulation of excavation, supporting process and the study of various factors above on the behavior and settlement of the surrounding rock of feng-huang-shan tunnel are carried b y FLAC3 D. Factors such as the tunnel depth, the surrounding rock grade, the excavation step l ength and the excavation and supporting methods are analyzed emphatically. Finall y some suggestions for design and construction are advanced as an efficient reference and also a guidance to the design and construction for some tunnel projects. The main res earch contents of this master’s thesis are(1) The general situation and construction organization design are presented;(2) FLAC3 D is systematically introduce d including the calculation principle and the constitutive relationship of soil, the noticeable merits and rationalities of FLAC3 D in the simulation of tunnel are introduced;(3) Numerical simulation of both the portal section and bod y of the tunnel is conducted. The stability and the settlement of surrounding rock is influenced by a series of factors such as the tunnel depth, the surrounding rock grade, the excavation step length and the excavation and supporting methods are simulated and anal yzed;(4) The advanced prediction and tunnel monitoring methods used in feng-huang-shan tunnel are introduced and the results by field monitoring are compared with the results of numerical simulation. There are 74 figures, 26 tables and 55 references in this paper.
