The rapid development of LED lighting industry puts forward higher requirements for lighting drive power in cost, size, efficiency and service life. AC/DC switching power supply,currently widely used, due to the complexity of circuit, high cost and difficult installation size, large EMI effects, dimmer inconvenience, is difficult to meet the needs of the development of LED lighting. This article develops a new type of sectional linear LED driver chip which directly using alternating current to drive.This article, by comparing the existing sectional constant current linear driver chip’s framework, puts forward a high-order sectional linear dimmer LED driver chip’s framework which can improve the efficiency,reduce the stroboflash,suppress flash caused by voltage fluctuation, have high PF and a variety of dimmer functions, and designs and implements the digital circuit modules.The framework uses the more sections(the most is 23) to improve the efficiency from 85% to 95% without increasing the complexity of the structure; uses technologies of active valley fill and dynamic configuration to reduce frequency flash from 62.5% to 17.7% on the basis of PF equals to 0.85;uses constant power technology to make the luminous flux change less than 0.5% every 10V; integrates a variety of dimmer technologies to make the dimmer more convenient, reduce the cost of the dimmer.The chip’s actual test shows that the high-order sectional linear dimmer LED driver chip is better than the normal AC/DC switching power supply and the existing sectional linear driver on numbers of performance indicators. Because of the advantages of high level of integration, low cost, small volume, easiness of installing, small EMI effect and convenient and fast dimmer,the high-order sectional linear dimmer LED driver is expected to gradually replace the AC/DC switching power supply, and has very good application prospects.
