Reticulated Shell structure is kind to be subjected to concern rather at home and abroad,has vast application foreground of structure types, as an important kind of space structure.Single-layer shell structure has characteristic of the power in reason, its reasonable load transfer, cover with great span, great firm tolerance, light self-respect, integrate technic economy target characteristic, it also can be sculpt richness and beauty, so it has the more extensive application in the engineering project. And joint has played a very important role in the single-layer shell structure, as joint is the critical connection part of structure. Whether the single-layer shell structure in a normal stress circumstance, the joint form, both the size of strength and stiffness, play a major role. Moreover, the joints in single-layer shell structure is big in quantity, lead to high steel consumption and high cost. Therefore, the problem of joint form selection is no doubt the most important factor to decide whether the single-layer shell structure can reflect all the advantages as mentioned above.The project of health industrial town exhibition hall, which is built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation has its own puzzle, that is the complicated square tubes monolayer hyperbolic reticulated shells in the center of the building. The single layer lattice shell is assembled by square tubes, and the joints is large in number. The project adapts joints of new type—the new type hub-shape joints, taking the factors of joints’ working time,deadline of the construction and cost, even the special bend-surface(the shape of nonlinear bend-surface) into account. But the mechanical property and failure mode of this newtype joint, which is in the single layer lattice shell of bend-surface,is not yet clear..Therefore, in order to solve this problem, this paper extracts the typical space joint from the lattice shell of the project, then uses the finite element program ANSYS to set up the finite element model, and conducts the elastic-plastic nonlinear analysis about the model,which is under the conditions of tension in two directions, compression in two directions,tension compression separately, outward bending moments, inward bending moments and combined loading of axial forces and bending moments. Finally, makes the conclusion of the mechanical property and failure mode about this new type joint.Additionally, this paper find the joint design in the project has unreasonable factorssteel consumption of the joint is too high, when conducts the finite element analysis about the new type hub-shape joint in various load conditions. This problem can lead to deadweight increasing and unreasonable forced state. Therefore, the thesis makes the discussion about the thickness factors of the pipe of the joint, the end-plate of the joint and the inner stiffening ring, which can influence the mechanical behavior of the new type joint in deferent load case. Finally,the paper gives the reasonable suggestions and hopes to provide reference to the same type engineering for design and actualize.
