Gas Insulated Switchgear(referred to GIS) as a new device with small intensive and uniform appearances has been widely used in recent years. Since the equipment is enclosed in insulated compartment, when GIS internal failure, it is hard to observe inspections and can not eliminate the judgment early. Therefore, it requires us to study a suitable detective method, which can be convenient to maintain equipment condition. With the partial discharge detection on existing domestic and international researchs, the type and causes of partial discharge for GIS equipment and the hazards to equipment have been analyzed in this paper, which also compares the detection of various of method. According to the actual working environment in general, it adopts on-line inspection of ultrasonic method for partial discharge, and the overall program is designed based on ultrasound GIS partial discharge detection system. It compares the two different testing procedures, which based on phase correlation and characteristic index, as well as ultrasonic testing method in use precautions, analyzing a typical ultrasonic flaw detection criterion, the typical defect pattern analysis and diagnostic criteria, treatment of different types of real work occurs twice, and different voltages GIS equipment levels typical discharge experiments. Experiments show that ultrasonic testing method of GIS partial discharge detection system can meet real-time, accuracy, convenience and so on. Through the acquisition, accumulation of field test data and work experience, a more comprehensive model of partial discharge is established, which can optimize and improve constantly the detection system,so that the detection results is improved.Dissertation established line partial discharge detection of ultrasonic testing process, summarizes the typical defect GIS equipment partial discharge characteristics, can achieve under the protection of the normal operation of GIS equipment, rapid partial discharge defects occur within the device on-line detection and location positioning. GIS working for reliable and safe operation of equipment maintenance planning offered help with the completion of work, which effectively reduce the maintenance work outage time and save maintenance staff input and reduce repaired costs of maintenances.
