Today, it has strongly advocated the concept of environmental protection in china, the development of electric vehicles is rapid. In-wheel motor as a major component of electric vehicles has value of practical reseach. In this paper, it is introduction n digestion and absoption of RST-V Sport Utility vehicle used In-wheel motors, what is produced by GM in the Untied States. The main contents of article includes structure, transmission program and the design and verification of main components. The structure of In-wheel motor is composed of a Permanent magnet Synchronous Motor, Epicyclic Gear Trains, Brake, Wheel and so on. By design, themaximum output speed is 665r/min, the maximum toque is 3100Nm, the maximum power is 75.5kw. For meeting the requirement, the permanent magnet synchronous motor select"GLMP60L0"permanent magnet synchronous motor, what customizes from Dadihe Co., Ltd. of Shenzhen. The transmission uses two-stage Epicyclic Gear Trains. The trainsmission of in-wheel motor is designed and verificared. And all epicyclic gear trains are analyzed by "ANSYS", by analysis acquires the analytical results and the corresponding optimization measures. After the relevant 2D/3Ddrawing have been made. Finally respectively for custom permanent magnet synchronous motor and wheel motor prototype with the field test, the performance parameters obtained permanent magnet synchronous motor, and draw the corresponding mechanical characteristic curve, at the same time get a single wheel prototype power, torque, speed and other performance parameters. Wheel motor actual maximum output torque 33174Nm, the actual maximum power 77KW, the maximum speed reached 665r/min. The results showed that wheel hub motors meet the design requirements.
