Although the rapid development of transportation technology has brought about the great leap forward of economy, it also has led to such problems as traffic pollution, energy crisis, etc.Heavy automobile exhaust pollution, excessive energy consumption and traffic congestion intensify the contradiction between transportation and energy as well as environment in transportation, which would affect the people’s quality of life to a large extent. Therefore, studying and designing high-efficiency eco-control methods have great significances in decreasing the pollution of vehicle exhaust, decreasing the fuel consumption, and easing the traffic congestion.Aiming at solving such practical transportation problems including traffic congestion, heavy vehicle exhaust pollution and excessive energy consumption, this dissertation presents some Eco-control methods based on predictive control, and mainly focuses on eco-control strategies, freeway eco-control methods and eco-control methods at an isolated intersection. Main contents are as follows:1. A traffic eco-control strategy based on predictive control is presented. Firstly, this dissertation reviews the model of predictive control and its application in the traffic. Then, by the way of the model framework of predictive control, it proposes the main idea of eco-control strategy and designs function modules of eco-control strategy. Finally, distinguished by road type, it proposes the main idea of eco-control strategies with each of their structure flow chart.2. An eco-control strategy of freeway combined with vehicle fuel consumption and exhaust emissions is given, which is at the micro level. Firstly, the dissertation shortly introduces macroscopic traffic flow model METANET and macroscopic emission and fuel consumption model VT-Macro. Then, by way of historical traffic flow data, it calibrates each parameters of macroscopic traffic flow model METANET, which can reduce system error of the METANET model and improve the precision of the system. Finally, it proposes an eco-control method offreeway by combining the ramp metering and variable speed limits in the traffic bottleneck, and this method can reduce vehicle fuel consumption, exhaust volume and total travel time.3. An eco-control strategy at an isolate intersection based on green travel is proposed.Firstly, the dissertation overviews a short-term traffic flow prediction method based on Trigg-Leach model and microscopic emission and fuel consumption model VT-Micro. Then, by way of traffic flow predictive data every fifteen minutes, it proposes model SPGPT, which determines the short green time of phase during the next fifteen minutes. Finally, it proposes model PGTOT through establishing control model by combining average passenger delay and vehicle exhaust volume at isolate intersection.
