The critical transmission compeonent of a car is chaming gear, its accuracy will directly determine the quality of the car gearbox. The evalution method of chaming gear machine accurary level is to measure the profile of gear chaming accurately, the common method of measurement is probe-contact method, its positioning accuracy depends on a mechanical fixture. This method has a complex positioning process and a low measurement efficiency, what’s more, it will scratch the surface of workpiece. Therefore, researching a measurement method based on machine vision technology with these characteristics of high-speed, high-accuracy, non-contact and intelligence has important significance in manufacturing industry.As a new intelligent, non-cotact measurement method, machine vision measurement technology has been widely used in many fields such as product quality inspection, reverse engnieering and robot navigation. In machinery manufacturing industry, machine vision measurement technology can also be used for non-contact measurement of the workpiece three-dimensional profile size. Its core component is usually an area array image sensor which can obtain the image of entire plane witnin the field of view of camera. The measurement result can be obtained immediately by image processing, so its measurement speed is very fast. However, due to the reason of their wown pixel size, its measurement accuracy is unable to meet the requirements of some precision measurement industries, such as gear chaming profile measurement industry. The accuracy of point vision laser displacement sensor is very high, but it can only measure height information of one point in a plane. In order to complete measurement in a region, the laser sensor can’t stop moving until it has collected all data in the region, therefore its measurement speed is very slow. By combining their respective advantages of the two sensors, this paper proposed a collaborative vision measurement method which uses area array image sensor to achieve high-speed positioning and uses laser sensor to achieve precision measurement. The method solve these issues such as positioning complex, damaging gear surface and the low level of intelligence in chaming gear measurement through using vision intelligent positioning replace mechanical fixture positioning and using laser diaplacement sensor replace probe to achieve non-contact measurement.The research works mainly include:1. Combining facing problems in gear chaming measurement field, this paper propose a high-speed, high-accuracy, non-contact, intelligent measurement method of gear chaming profile based on two-stage vision sensor.2. According to the selected measurement system solutions, design the hardware structure of the measuring system and research the driving and controling principle of aera array image sensor, the XY driving platform and laser diaplacement sensor.3. Research the image processing algorithms of gear center positioning, plan measurement path of gear chaming profile and compose measurement system software program based on VC++、MFC.4. Research the errors of messurement syetem through experiment, analyze the courses of errors and propose improvement program to reduce errors.
