Scroll vacuum pump,a new type of oil-free vacuum pump, with its advantages of stable running, low noise, good performance, is unanimously accepted by the market. However, there hasn’t been much research done on the subject of its matching motor because of the lacking of localization in the vacuum pump industry. As we all know, Brushless DC motor is an ideal power source to scroll vacuum pump for its advantages of stable operation and excellent speed regulating performance. This paper focus on the subject of Brushless DC motor system for scroll vacuum pump, which based on the research projects of enterprise, enforcing its stable performance, low cost, energy conservation and environmental protection.Firstly, this paper introduces the review of the development of the scroll vacuum pump and Brushless DC motor, showing the working characteristics of the scroll vacuum pump and the requirements for the performance of motor, and analyzing the working characteristics of the brushless DC motor.Secondly, this paper deals with the design and analysis for brushless dc motor with the method of electric field combined with circuit. In order to achieve the comparative goal of motor scheme, the permanent magnet materials of ndfeb and ferrite can be selected for electric machine design. The basic performance can be simulated by using Rmxprt module in Ansoft software. The motor performance under the working conditions of load start and steady state can be presented by using Ansoft in 2D electromagnetic field. The cost of motor can be analyzed by measuring the material dosage and price of every parts of motor. The two designs can be compared from the perspective of motor performance and cost. Due to the analysis of the influence of different factors on the cogging torque, which based on two kinds of motor designs, the change rule of the cogging torque is obtained.Finally, the motor prototype is made by ferrite permanent magnet material. And the experiment research of two kinds of control mode can be studied with the invention of position sensor and position-out sensor.
