In recent years, new energy vehicles have already become a hot topic of the whole society from the industry hotspot. Premier Li Keqiang recently held a state council executive meeting, which determined to give more support to new energy automotive industry. Therefore, it boosts the morale of people in this industry. Under such circumstance, the new energy automotive industry is in the period of rapid development. As the core of this industry, the motor performance determines the performance of the new energy vehicle to a great extent. So the test of the motor on the dynamometer bench is particularly important.Experiment platform is indispensable in the process of production and scientific research. Meanwhile, it is also one of the most important steps. Whether equipment and control technology are advanced or not determines platform performance. The dynamometer mainly includes electric dynamometer, eddy current dynamometer, hydraulic dynamometer and magnetic powder dynamometer and so on. Electric dynamometer is relatively advanced loading dynamometer device. In addition, it has a lot of advantages in performance and security, especially in low speed work loading. Another advantage of electric dynamometer is its energy feedback function, which can transform mechanical energy produced by electric dynamometer into power and send it to the grid, rather than converting this part of mechanical energy into heat and wasting it. From this point of view, electric dynamometer can save energy and it is economical. Therefore, It’s of great importance to design a set of electric dynamometer system. Thus the topic of the paper is put forward.This paper aims to provide a set of feasible dynamometer system solution under existing laboratory condition. Firstly, this paper describes the complete system framework and refers to some of the mechanical design of the general standard to make the system standardized as much as possible. In addition, this paper introduces the dynamometer inverter and control method. At the same time, this paper clearly presents the strengths of the direct torque control mode. Then this paper introduces the CANopen network and the application of ABB Drive communication protocol in the remote control of frequency converter model. In this paper, we design the ark of the discharge which works only when the bus voltage is higher than the open voltage, and the purpose is to prevent power model and controller being damaged with test failure. As a result, it is not the same concept compared to the traditional sense of the role of discharge ark. Finally, tests of different functions about the motor and the vehicle simulation test are carried out based on this system, which laid a certain foundation for later system perfection.
