However, many of the residential areas in our country are not suitable for running, owing to the limitation of the construction areas and planning. In this case, the majority of runners will choose a city park which has a relatively good environment, but they will also face various problems. The foundmental cause is that the designer does not take the needs of the residents into account, nor does the demands of the running environment for the runners.From the Angle of the humanized to city park running environment construction goal and the methods of study.This paper based on the analysis of theory of environment behavior science,and combined with field investigation of changsha city park,through the way of questionnaire and open interview to collect data,attempts to explore a multifunctional and leisurable design approach for city park environment which can meet not only the runner’s needs for activity and psyche, but also the other residents’.First this paper introduces the domestic state of running environment and people’s demand for it, and then it analysizes the common factors of the impact on runners’ s selection for running environment through the study of cognitive theory, social behavior theory, environmental assessment theory of environment behavior, and on the basis through the analyzes of the survey data in changsha city parks for summarizes superior factors of runners for running environment selection, there are participate in the survey by investigators include all ages and all career.Inspect of which the influence factor includesaccessibility, joviality, safety,distance,identifiability and so on,conclusion the main preference factor is accessibility, joviality and safety. Finally considering runners’ psychological needs, this paper comes up with constructive suggestions of the construction of city park running environment to establish multi-functional system of running environment from four aspects which are the principles of environment construction, the network organization strategy of running path, the design method of running landscape, and the design demand for suitable running facilities.
