The power and torque of gear transmission is one of the most common transmission modes in engineering practice, one of the most widely used devices of power and motion transmission in various industrial facilities, like machinery, construction, shipbuilding, electronics, aerospace, etc. In the process of gear work, many faults, such as turning fatigued, wearing, pitting, creeping, often accompany, which has a great impact on the economic performance and the performance of the transmission system. Therefore, the analysis of the dynamics of multi-fault gear transmission system and its simulation research has important theoretical and practical values.Based on the calculation of the model characteristics of transmission system and the gear contact dynamics of modified gear by finite element techniques, this paper aims to research the status of the test cylinder displacement spur gear measured by CL-100-type gear tooth wear testing machine and analyze the effects of tooth surface pitting and creeping on dynamic performance of gear to provide a theoretical basis for improving and optimizing the structure design of multi-fault gear transmission system. The main contents are as follows:(1) Analyzing the failure mechanism of the fatigue spalling of gear surface.(2) Completing three-dimensional modeling of modified gear system and realizing the parametric modeling of gear, including the number of teeth, module, pressure angle, variable coefficient, tooth thickness, tooth width, with application of PRO/E modeling software.(3) Analyzing the dynamics characteristics of gear transmission with finite element analysis techniques. Based on HyperMesh’s pre-processing software, the gear transmission model formed in PRO/E software will be imported into HyperMesh’s software to complete the pre-treatment work, such as finite element mesh model. Completing the modal analysis of the modified gear system and calculating the natural frequencies and mode shapes of gear transmission mode with the finite element analysis software ANSYS to analyze the inherent characteristics of the entire test device; completing the dynamics analysis of the modified gear system with the application of displaying dynamic finite element software LS-DYNAto get the result of the dynamic changes of contact stress gear changes with the changing time.(4) Based on LS-DYNA modified gear system dynamics analysis model, considering the effect of tooth surface pitting, fatigue spalling and other factors and getting the qualitative results of effects of the above faults on the dynamics performance of gear transmission to provide references and helps for the study of interactions of multiple faults.
