Embankment dam is a kind of broad scope, economical and convenient to get material under complex environment. It also has the characteristics of rapid construction, simple operation and lowly cost, especially in river bed and deep valleys, which are covered with layers, complex geological conditions, earthquake-prone areas and so on, it is particularly suitable for embankment dams. However, according to the already statistics information and data show:The ratio of the embankment dam in all the failure than the other dam type, faced with the problem of earth rock-fill dam also need further analysis and research, in order to solve the safety, applicability and economic problems. This thesis is written on the basis of real project of a certain clay core embankment dam dams in Yunnan province, combined with relevant theoretical knowledge and previous experience, research and analysis the following aspects of embankment dam:(1) Based on the finite element method, under the saturated-unsaturated seepage constitutive model, study on unsaturated seepage of embankment dam with core wall. Due to the non-saturated conditions, In the presence of matrix suction above the infiltration surface, the pore water pressure in the infiltration area is zero, under Infiltration surface exist excess pore water pressure. Therefore, considering the region as a whole to calculate and analysis the seepage;(2) Based on FEM analysis of the dam under different conditions of stress-strain situation, In numerical calculations using the Mohr-Coulomb material nonlinear constitutive relation, simulating the construction process of hierarchical load;(3)It also uses the time-horizon dynamic analysis method to calculation the response under the earthquake. The significance of this study is mainly to ensure the safety of embankment dam under normal water level and action of earthquake;(4) The two dimensional numerical simulation of saturated-unsaturated seepage, stress-strain, slope stability and seismic response are carried out, when the clay core embankment dam in the filling stage, the normal used, the check flood level, the water level up and down and the earthquake condition. And the 3D simulation of the dam is carried out under the condition of the layered filling, obtained the results of stress and deformation in a three-dimensional overall situation, and mutually authenticate with the two-dimensional calculation results.All the research content of this article is intended to carry out a comprehensive security compound for the embankment dam. It is very useful for the safety examination and furthermore, provides a theoretical support. So the work in this thesis is not only of importance for academia, but also great values and perspective for engineering application.
