With the development of science and technology, the multivariate system is worked towards to large-scale and complexity. Once the system was breakdown, it will cause casualties and property losses. So the study of fault diagnosis for multivariate system has become the need of industrial development. As a typical multivariate system, slurry pipeline transportation system have been developed rapidly in recent years and its research of fault diagnosis are far from enough up to now. In the paper, slurry pipeline transportation system is selected as a background,to research on the fault diagnosis model and methods based on error signals of multivariate.The main research contents and results are as follows:(1) Slurry pipeline transport system, the fault diagnosis research content, research status and development trend of various methods are expounded. Nowadays fault diagnosis methods of multivariate system play a quiet important role in the society.(2) The basic composition and operation mechanism of slurry pipeline transportation system are analyzed. Different parts of the system will cause the different fault types, leading to different signal form and characteristics. All above are to prepare for the fault diagnosis.(3) Aim to analyze the self-correlation of error data, the paper establish self-regressive error model. Principal component analysis were used in the residual data weighted, which can make up the defects of other principal component analysis and conform to the actual application. Constructing statistic for fault detection and combining with fault signal form to determine fault location can carry out the fault diagnosis of multivariate system.(4) By taking slurry pipeline system as the object of fault diagnosis, the above theory and algorithm conduct simulation to demonstrate the correctness and feasibility of the method.
