The control valve has an important role in oil and chemical industry, which the most important accessory of the control valve is the control valve positioner. It takes 30 years that the transmitting way of the valve positioner has undergone from the electric transmission to the intelligent transmission. It improved the quality of the production equipment and the dynamic responding characteristics of the valve and the positioning precision of the control valve. So it can realize the fast, accurate and stable positioning. However, the common characteristics of the modern industry is the complexity and undetermined, and its parameters have the time-variable and random. Therefore, when the intelligent valve positioner has a fault, the repair workers always do not know how to do it. It will cause the decrease of the economic benefit and the labor efficiency.According to the running condition of the intelligent valve positioner of the 4850 fertilizer equipment in TaLiMu oil & chemistry company, the fault of the intelligent valve positioner was summarized. And the fault and its processing database was built according to the analysis of the fault. Then the fault code was displayed on the screen of the intelligent valve postioner and alarm was made. So the results of fault can be obtained and the fault can be solved. In addition, the predictive estimation can be made, and the maintance period and the wearing period of the parts of the valve were achieved. So the pre-maintanance work can be realized and the valve can run for a long time without fault.
