Vehicle forward collision avoidance system is one of important research direction of the advanced vehicle control and safety system, which can effectively prevent rear-end accidents and so on. Road conditions is one of the main causes of traffic accidents, have greater significance for safety in driving the vehicle under different road conditions, traffic conditions, study the safety distance model.This thesis based on the study to domestic and foreign automotive collision avoidance system and the characteristics of the effects of road conditions on the existing safety distance model, existing models are typically safe distance quantitative analysis; secondly by analyzing the breaking process with two movement of vehicles, established a safe distance model contains the road conditions characteristic parameters, determining the way of calculation key parameters in the model,proposed vehicle traffic risk assessment method based on the distance; Finally, based on the safety distance model used SIMULINK and MATLAB / GUI to build a simulation system based on human-computer interaction, to achieve the current calculation of the safety distance of driving conditions, driving safety status judgment and display and other functions, SIMULINK joint CARSIM software for vehicles in different road conditions simulation validation with simulation results show that the model parameters from the security establishment set reasonable, at a safe distance to ensure the vehicle safety.
