With the development of technology and the progress of society, vehicle-mounted mechanical arm, as a kind of highly efficient and steady automatic transfer agency, is widely used in cargo handling, forest production, civil construction and many other fields. Meanwhile, the request for performance of vehicle-mounted mechanical arm is becoming high. This paper, to meet the particular requirement of one company, mainly research on the following design:(1)After summarizing the advantage and disadvantage of various existing mechanical arms, the author found out an overall scheme to design the three-link hydraulic drive type vehicle-mounted mechanical arm considering a variety of factors, which is based on the most appropriate arm. Then conducted the structural design of various parts, which is based on the scheme, and used Solidworks software to complete the three-dimensional entity modeling of various components and machine assembly. The rationality of structure design was validated preliminarily by interference checking.(2)Based on the three-dimensional entity modeling and the ANSYS Workbench finite element analysis software, the author studied static characteristics of the vehicle-mounted hydraulic mechanical arm. Research indicates that the maximum equivalent stress of various components were not beyond the allowable stress of material, the total deformation was in the acceptable range. The analysis results proved that the structure design were safe and reliable.(3)Using the ANSYS Workbench finite element analysis software, this paper researched the dynamic characteristics of the whole machine, and determined that the modal frequency which had the largest impact on the agency was the second-order natural frequency. The possibility exists that it will resonate with the hydraulic pulse frequency of the system, therefore, this paper conducted the optimization design. The optimization results show that it successfully changed the second-order natural frequency under the qualified of the total deformation and equivalent stress, and avoided the occurrence of resonance.(4)Modified three-dimensional entity model according to the results of optimization, and then imported the model to ADAMS software for dynamic simulation. It further proved that the design could meet the requirement of arms, the hydraulic cylinder type selection is rationality, and confirmed that the mechanism, under the action of the 3r/min rotational speed, operate gently and smoothly, no obvious vibration phenomenon.Through the above analysis and research, this paper designed a three-link vehicle-mounted hydraulic mechanical arm, which it has reasonable structure, excellent performance, and can completely meet the requirements of the company’s transshipment.
