Dispersive clay, as a special type of soil, most or even all of the cohesive force of soil particles lost while in low salinity water or pure water, the soil particles will fall off from the surface of soil easily, and become single particle, thus leading to soil particle dispersion. Soil can turn into soil particles under the influence of water, the erosion resistance, as well as scouring resistance are low,the damage process is rapid, and can lead to seepage damage easily, which is destructive to the project. This study rely on the Sha Xuan Gou soil-retaining dam Reinforcement project. Apply to the direct shear test, pinhole test, pore water soluble cation test, crumb test, dual-densimeter tset, sodium adsorption ratio test and the empirical formula, study on the dispersion and the mechanical properties of the dam soil. The results are as follows.(1)The empirical formula of dispersion measurement to clay and pinhole test, debris test, dual-densimeter tset, pore water soluble cation test, sodium adsorption ratio test have shows that the soil of Sha Xuan Gou soil-retaining dam belong to the physical dispersive clay. The resson of dispersion is the clay content of soil has too lower.(2)Apply to the AlCl3, polyacrylamide, lime and cement to change the dispersion of soil. The result of the pinhole test and the crumb test have show that the modification effects of AlCl3 and polyacrylamide are not effective; the lime and cement have certain inhibitory effects on the dispersion of soil, the modification effects is more obvious.(3)Through direct shear test,the mechanics properties of the lime and cement soil are studied. The cohesive force of lime and cement soil has a obvious increase, but has little effect on internal friction angle. Compared with cement modified soil,the cohesive force of lime modified soil is more stronger.
