Along with China’s rapid economic development, city traffic congestion is becoming a serious problem, Intersection is an important node in city road, different traffic streams transform direction cause cross, interleaving, diffluence and confluence make the characteristic of traffic intersection become more complex. In turn left, go straight, turn right at the three different direction of traffic flow, left turn traffic affects the intersection of the traffic capacity and efficiency, such as the increase of motor vehicles, pedestrians and non conflict and influence between motor vehicles, resulting in intersection traffic chaos, so we need organize right operation space, wayleave and traffic rules of the left turn traffic flow, make the intersection of the left turn traffic flow safety and orderly operation, and the intersection of time and space resources are fully utilized.This paper use engineering transportation design and other disciplines theories, through the analysis of the basic knowledgeon the spot investiga data processing and calculating and the simulation of VISSIM software, study the characteristics and left-turn mode of different traffic flow. Simulate and evaluate motor vehicle in different left-turn proportion. Finally, propose the new left-turn organization scheme. Main research contents:In this paper, motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles and pedestrians in three different traffic characteristics and traffic characteristics were reviewed and summarized, compare the common characteristics of mixed traffic flow in our country, then the three traffic flow of different left organization are introduced. Different left organization for intersection environment to sort out and the traffic flow the advantages and disadvantages of different left organization carries on comparative analysis. Study on different ways of left turn vehicle flow capacity, First make the on-site inspection scheme, investigate data on the intersection of field. Secondly, simulate and evaluate the three left way in the saturated capacity of different saturation flow and different left-turn proportional flow through VISSIM. Finally, conclude the applicable conditions of three kinds of left way; introduce new design ideas of reverse left the organization plan. First, to compare the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional two phase and four phase, on the basis of humanist, based on considering the pedestrian waiting time and reverse left new organization design, and through the investigation of typical intersection, the original design of the typical intersection and this chapter proposed new design scheme by using VISSIM simulation software for simulation and evaluation.
