In this paper, research object is the serial manufacturing system, adopting positive decomposition from up to down and reverse solution from the bottom-up as research ideas, combining reliability theory with the actual manufacturing system, establishing serial reliability models of manufacturing systems with reliability block diagram. Based on reliability models, redefining the manufacturing system reliability and failure referenced the product reliability, analyzing the failure theory of manufacturing system and establishing a sophisticated and reasonable manufacturing system reliability index system.In this paper, the complex manufacturing system is decomposed into series unit. Personnel, information, organization, environment, materials, equipment and other factors are involved into the system reliability consideration, we are no longer simply limited to production faults caused by equipment or personnel, other factors have direct effects on personnel, equipment, buffer, simplifying the scope of the study. Focuses on the analysis of the personnel, equipment, the failure mechanism and influence factors of a buffer, verifies the skilled operator error rate is constant through the "Bayes" method and assumes failure rate and recovery rate obey exponential distribution to pave the way for quantitative reliability.Combines the personnel, equipment, materials via unitization study and dynamic Markov transfer method, via the analysis of the state unit, buffer status, deduces a steady-state availability calculation formula which is a based on serial manufacturing system reliability, involving human errors, equipment failures and buffer fault into the steady state availability of consideration. Furthermore, considering the capacity loss caused by the fault of the unqualified products, scrap rework and reprocessing, and other factors, the correction coefficient and estimation method of steady-state availability are proposed.On the basis of traditional capacity calculation method, proposes a new calculation method for serial manufacturing production system which is based on the steady state availability, verifies the calculation method is reasonable and effective via the case of CKPZ bridge basin type bearing production line.
