Elastic porous damping material metal rubber which is made of ordinary metal wire by winding and stamping has been paid more and more attention. It can be widely used in aerospace, vehicle, ship machinery equipment and other fileds with its excellent mechanical properties.In this paper,the mechanical property of metal rubber material was researched by experiments.The origin of metal rubber material development and its research status in China and foreign country were introduced firstly, and also the engineering application. The manufacturing process of metal rubber material was introduced by reading a large amount of journals, and also the post processing technology. And the quasi static loading and unloading test was conducted,the force displacement curve was obtained. MATLAB was used for fitting loading and unloading curves,stress and strain curve,stiffness curve and for calculating static loss coefficient.The variation of static loss coefficient and stiffness in different loading speed were compared. Two kinds of finite element model were established according to the established cantilever beam contact model, one of which was improved a little.The loading and unloading process were simulated by ANSYS which show that the improved model can predict test in a certain extent. Finally metal rubber material was researched by Drop hammer low speed impact test.The acceleration response peak was researched by comparing different weight,height, height of the specime.And the reason was analysised. Two kinds of energy calculation method was introduced.After the filter and integral,a set of test energy absorption coefficient was calculated by using one of them called kinetic energy subtraction.Analyzed the reasons of variation and produce. The results show that the metal rubber material is a kindof material that has nonlinear stiffness and elastic damping property.It is suitable for repeated use.
