With the rapid development of construction industry in China, the rising energy consumption is becoming an increasingly serious problem which will intensify environmental pollution and energy shortage. Using clean energy in buildings, developing the building energy efficiency and researching green energy-efficient air conditioned all become urgent and significant work. This paper puts forward the improved solar absorption air condition system with latent heat storage units (LHSU) which uses a phase change heat storage device to improve the utilization rate of solar energy. The system is of great importance to energy conservation and emissions reduction target in China.In this paper, the solar absorption air condition system with LHSU is mainly for the following several aspects of research:first of all, it is necessary to set up basic component models for the solar absorption air condition system with LHSU. Then in TRNSYS platform, a hotel project simulation model of solar absorption air condition system with LHSU in Guangzhou area is set up. To set the parameters of simulation model and simulate the system dynamic simulation during the cooling and heating season. For the sake of contrast, a traditional solar absorption air condition system without LHSU is established. Also to compare two kinds of systems of useful energy, collection efficiency, solar fraction, system of auxiliary electricity and heat, etc. Finally, comparing energy saving, environmental protection and economic benefits of the solar absorption air condition system with LHSU with other types of air conditioning systems, and providing a basis for use of the system in Guangzhou region.The results show that the use of LHSU makes the collector of useful energy, solar thermal efficiency and solar fraction rate increased,also makes the system of auxiliary power and heat greatly reduced. During the cooling and heating, the system can add the useful energy more than 150450.86 MJ, equivalent to 8.58% of the total radiation. Annual monthly average solar thermal efficiency of the system with a LHSU is 63.26%, the monthly average solar fraction is 48.21%. For a system without a LHSU,the annual monthly average solar thermal efficiency is only 54.68%, the monthly average solar fraction is 42.03%. Compared with the system who has no LHSU, the solar absorption air condition system with LHSU reduce the electric heat 102529.92MJ which is the equal of saving electricity 28480.52 kW·h. Therefore, the existence of the LHSU makes the system have great advantage in actual practices.The economic performance of solar absorption air condition system with LHSU is better than that of no phase change system and direct-fired absorption air condition system, but relative to the conventional air condition system economy effect is not obvious. In terms of energy-saving benefit, the system is superior to the traditional solar absorption, direct-fired and electric refrigeration air condition system. In terms of environmental benefits, the system is a bit poor than direct-fired air condition and better than traditional solar absorption, electric refrigeration system. Therefore, the system from the economic, energy saving, environmental protection is worth popularizing in Guangzhou area.
