The pile-soil interaction under horizontal load in coastal geotechnical area is a very complex process. So far, there have been quite a few research methods on the mechanism of pile-soil interaction but all are not very intensive. The present research mainly adopts m value method. By assuming m value, the force of piles is calculated. But the actual situation only gives a certain recommended m value range. Thus, designers can rely on experience to choose m value. It is not beneficial for engineering design. Due to the high cost of field test, complex condition and many difficulties in test process, it is better to combine with the theoretical research or numerical analysis in order to certificate. In this paper, the prototype in 13 coastal areas were selected, and then the 6 groups were analyzed and compared with the finite element method. The main results are presented as follows:(1)The m value of coastal area is mainly lower than 18MN/m4, and the 2 MN/m4<m<6 MN/m4 area is the largest.(2)Through the field tests to six pile, there are two piles of Qiutang Grand Bridge whose m values is 3-5 MN/m4 and two piles of Kuabao Line Grand Bridge whose m values is about 8.5 MN/m4. Other piles are about 10 MN/m4.(3) Through the ABAQUS simulation prototype test, it found that the relevant laws were similar but there were some deviations in the value. Therefore, theoretical method needs to be improved so as to apply to engineering practice.
