With the continuous development of power industry market reformation, the expansion of power system interconnected range, and the rapid growth trend in distributed generation including wind energy, solar energy, etc, the operation safety faces uncertainty factors and serious challenges. In particular, After analyzing and summarizing the experiences and lessons about many times black outs in recect years over the world, It is proposed that the first task of power technology is to get on real-time security and stability analysis against the increasingly complex power system, and then improve its dynamic quality, Simultaneously, its economy should be ensured as much as possible in the premise of ensuring security and stability. The development and maturity of wide-area measurement system technology provide a new perspective and technical support for the assessment of operation of power grid based on response-information.With the application of WAMS, now power grid is a whole consist of source-grid-load, thus we should make static angle stability voltage stability a whole to study. For the reason that continuation power flow can reflect the voltage level of the system realistically, it is widely used in the analysis of the stability of the power system. Grid runs in the steady state or quasi-steady state in the most of time, thus the research on assement of static stability based on response have great realistic meaning. It is the key to improve the online monitoring and early-warning of large grid that using WAMS to achieve rapid quantitative assessment of static grid. The whole power system was mapped to the elastic mechanics space by some scholars reference from the physical concept of static stability in kinetics space, which provide the new perspective for the quantitative evaluation of large power grid online based on response. Different from the traditional power grid equivalent modeling method, the large power grid is projected onto an elastic dynamic field in this article, according to the real-time data of WAMS and elasticity potential energy. The large power grid is equivalent to an elastic branch with the media of a branch elastic potential energy. Thus, this paper presents a power system static stability fast quantitative performance evaluation criterion, namely the general elastic coefficient. The proposed method was verified to be feasible under the Case study on the 10-Machine 39-Bus New England test power system and Northeast power grid with continuation power flow. This method directly using the measured information of simple numerical calculation, to avoid all kinds of parameter identification link equivalent and uncertain factors.
