A-pillar is the connecting column in front of the car which is connected to the roof and the engine compartment. It carries the weight of the car’s roof. Therefore it has a certain width, the front side of the driver’s line of sight is blocked easily by A-pillar when the car is moving. It will form view obstacles in a certain angle and cause traffic accidents in the case of turning, which will do harm to the driver’s personal safety and bring a lot of security risks to them.Therefore, the elimination of the car A-pillar blind spot is the urgent need for each driver. In this paper, without changing the original material and stiffness of A-pillar, a concept of view field offset is put forward from the perspective of driving comfort to eliminate the car’s A-pillar within blind spots.Aiming at the design of auxiliary observation system for A-pillar blind spot to compensate its field of view, this thesis chooses a kind of A-pillar photoelectric imaging system to make up for its field of view through the demonstration of plan, which is consisted of a camera, a projector and an A pillar plate. After several experiments, the accurate position relation among the camera, projector and A-pillar plate is determined. At the experiments, it is found that the projector illumination cannot meet the demands of display brightness of the A-pillar projection during the day, so that the design in which projector illumination is improved is described in this paper. After the comparison of several plans, it is finally determined to add cylindrical optical system in front of the camera and the projector lens. Through being computed in detail for the design of the two kinds of optical system in this paper and described in the ZEMAX software, it is proved that the quality of two systems newly added could meet the requirements of visual optical imaging system. It has solved the problem of Geometric distortion of projection image caused by the big difference of A-pillar shapes of different types of vehicles’ for the design of A-pillar plate.The composition and technical conditions of auxiliary observation system for A-pillar blind spot to compensate its field of view has been cleared after the project design is completed. The specific technical conditions for:camera:(index:the view angle of 50 degrees) and extra optical group (index:the incident angle is 10 degrees,5 times magnification), the optimal location for steam station near the left front A column; projectors (index:300 lumens, angle of 60 degrees) extra optical group (index:the incident angle is 60 degrees,0.2 times magnification), the optimal location for adsorption beneath the car mirror; A-pillar extra plate (the cylindrical radius is 9.3cm, the length of 30cm, the width of 10.3cm, the surface material for the white plastic curtain and a gain of 1).
