With the number of retained motor vehicles increasing, the problems of energy consumption and environmental pollution are increasingly prominent. Therefore, Seeking a kind of renewable and economically viable alternative fuels has gained more and more attention. In this paper, a high speed single cylinder engine was took as the experiment basement, and the effects of butanol-gasoline blend fuels(B00, B10, B20, B30) on combustion, power, and emissions which were under different working condition of engine load were searched. At the same time, this article has also studied the butanol-gasoline blend fuels’ influence on combustion characteristic and detonation trend with different ignition advance Angles. The results show that:(1) The effect of butanol-gasoline blend fuels’ ratio results showed that under different engine load condition, the best ignition advance angle of butanol-gasoline fuel blends has appeared to be advanced when compared to the pure gasoline, and the value of optimum ignition advance angle appears to be falling when engine load increases. Besides, when butanol-gasoline blend fuels were used under the same ignition advance angle with pure gasoline, The combustion averaged pressure, temperature, maximum explosion pressure and maximum pressure rise rate were increased with the butanol volume,and the ignition delay and combustion duratio n became to decrease. But combustion cyclic of variations appeared to be larger.(2) In the condition of different ignition advance Angle, butanol-gasoline blend fuels have more obvious effects on the combustion characteristics of high-speed gasoline engine than the pure gasoline. With the increase of the ignition advance angle, the average pressure, the speed of combustion reaction, the peak of combustion pressure and the heat release rate have all increased in the cylinder, when butanol-gasoline blend fuels were used. However, the ignition delay and combustion duration will increase, when ignition angle was advanced. And the trend of engine detonation will occurre.(3) When the engine was under full load, butanol-gasoline blend fuels play a positive role for the improvement of the performance of the engine power. However, due to the lower heat value influence of butanol, the improvement of the engine power performance will decrease with the percentage of butanol further increasing. In terms of engine emissions, butanol-gasoline blend fuel has a positive effect on the reduction of CO and HC emissions, But the NOx emissions will slightly rise with the ratio of butanol increasing in the fuel blend.
