As one of the three supporting networks, synchronization network plays a key role in synchronous operation of the entire communications network. Both frequency synchronization and time synchronization are required in an electrical power network. In order to improve the reliability and standardization of the synchronization and to fundamentally solve the problem that there is no perfectly complete synchronization network standard and consistent planning on construction, this article have optimized the algorithm of the synchronizing source and the stability in source switching in the power system.Based on the existing source selection methods of the clock reference signal in power synchronous networks, the multi-source selection is applied to avoid accidental performance degradation incurred by the missing signal of the clock source. Through the multiple source selection method introduced by this article, the synchronous clock output performance is capable to be lossless during the switching process. A variety of synchronization requirements, application scenarios and scales in power system transmission networks are analyzed based on the actual survey. Furthermore, the main technical indicators and the basic operation principles of the synchronization network are also analyzed in this paper. The article has focus on the resolution of the signal format and the access method in synchronous clock of various synchronization reference signal.Synchronization information is obtained by synchronous clock to tame the internal atomic clock. Then the synchronization signal can be output to devices via the signal output boards. In this paper, various sources are identified and classified into different groups by the multi-source selection methods, while keep other qualified sources as a backup in case of the lost or deterioration of the current source. The alternate source is prepared for ensuring the output performance of the synchronous clock.Based on the theoretical analysis on the algorithm of source selection and multi-source selection method of synchronize clocks, the analogue environment of the signal losing can be created. Consequently, the sync output quality of the clock during the switching process can be tested. The results show that the sync signal output can be not affected during the switching process by using the multi-source selection method. Hence, the lossless handover can be achieved.
