Wind energy has become the focus of development of renewable energy in the new one. The wind power industry has shown its important development and utilization value. But it also have lots of fault problems. To obtain the response of the wind turbine in failure time, this article realize the fault simulation of the wind turbine generator based on a virtual instrument software. It can achieve the high-speed real-time simulation, and it has be widely used not only on wind turbine simulation research. As an important based on the project which is called Research and development on semi physical simulation training system and has been successfully accepted, the article has a deep analysis on the Wind turbine generator fault using LabVIEW simulation software. This paper has given a brief introduction about the model and operation mechanism of doubly fed wind turbine. Based on this, the study and simulation of the doubly fed induction generator fault with LabVIEW software is carried out. Firstly, using a existing combined wind speed model join in manual wind-speed and file wind-speed, expand the number of type of the wind to three. Completed the free switch between any kind of wind-speed, by controlling the time and the wind switch logic. Completed the modeling of wind turbine model with the vane mass imbalance fault, and had a observation and analysis in the system response. Secondly, summarized the mathematical model of the rotor side converter with the rotor side Crowbar circuit and mathematical model of grid side converter with DC side Crowbar circuit, realized the modeling of both two by using the virtual instrument software. Finally, independently ran the wind turbine systems with crowbar circuit during different degree of grid voltage, compared the system response under grid drop fault with with different Crowbar circuit, different Crowbar resistance, different Crowbar circuit investing time. The analysis is carried out, and responses of some parameters of the system are also given, in addition some systems inner parameters responses which commonly can not observe are also given. From the final simulation results, a conclusion can be made that using the virtual instrument to realize the fault simulation has more advantages such as high real-time, high precision, more observed data, and less cost than using the physical device.
