Renewable energy has drawn more and more attention all over the world currently. The penetration of low-carbon clean energy such as wind power is higher than ever before and it will increase in the foreseeable future. However, the cost of wind power is still higher than traditional energy. Thus, analyze the power generation ability of wind turbine to improve its power generation capability can let the wind turbine operates in an more efficient way and let the cost of wind power to be more competent when compared to fossil fuel power generation method. Then, a wind farm can bring higher profit to the wind farm operator. In this thesis, a series of study have been done to research how to analyze the wind turbine power generation ability and monitoring its operation condition. Details as follows:(1) Researched the wind power development status both at home and abroad and its development trend. Introduced use what index and how to evaluate the wind turbine power generation ability. Overview the fundamental operating principle of the wind turbine and the structure of it.(2) Introduced how to process the data collected from the meteorological mast. Clarify why the static power curve is incapable of practical application, leading to how to model the power curve according to the IEC standard that can reflect the actual operating condition of wind turbine. At the end, a practical case is studied to prove how to use the power curve model to analyze the power generation ability of wind turbine. In the second section of the chapter, Blade Element Momentum is introduced and analyze how the established angle can influence the power performance of wind turbine and at the end a practical case is used to prove how to improve the power performance by adjust the established angle.(3) SCADA data contains lots of operational information about wind turbine, it is an efficient and low cost way to monitoring the condition of wind turbines by analyzes the SCADA data. In the third section of this thesis, research is done to analyze the SCADA data by the methods such as:analyze the data by combining the MSET and SPRT method、the health coefficient of wind turbine to find out malfunctions in the wind turbine. A practical case is used to prove the effectiveness and potential of these methods.(4) Two methods that can improve the power performance of wind turbine is studied, they are method to minimize the yaw misalignment and method to optimize the aerodynamic characteristic of wind turbine blades. The principle of how the yaw misalignment can affect the performance of wind turbine is introduced and improvement approach is recommended. How the aerodynamic characteristic of blades can influence the performance of wind turbine is analyzed, improving approaches from aspects of active control and passive control is recommended.
