Welding is widely used in shipbuilding, marine engineering, energy, chemical, power, transportation, aerospace and other structural parts of production.The main complex welds in hull include beveled butt weld,variable cross-section profiled weld type, etc.Due to the particularity and complexity of profiled seam structure,under the influence of the welders state and level, welding equipment, welding materials and welding construction environment and other factors,welding process of ship manufacture and installation can easily produce all kinds of welding defects,these defects serious threat to the safety of the ship.Therefore,profiled welding position detection technology gets more and more researchers’attention.Aiming profiled welded joints existing prone problem of leak detection and error detection in the actual testing process,this paper from the resulting weld defects causes and morphology, to a reasonable selection of positioning, qualitative and quantitative methods were discussed in depth.In bevel butt joints and variable cross-section profiled weld joints case,on the basis of a large number of physical detection,this article has carried on the systematically theoretical analysis to the reason of resulting missed or misjudged problem in the profiled weld joints,Thus indicating the vast majority of false positives and missed test is caused by the detection surface and the reflective surface existing problems in trigonometric function coordinate transformation,proposed the calculation method suitablely for site operation to such special product, get the rationality of this detection method through destructive test of the welded joint.
