Casualties and economic losses are mainly because of the collapse of buildings in earthquake disaster. In recent years, earthquake damage data shows that China’s casualties and economic losses are far greater than that of United States, Japan and other developed countries under the same magnitude. On one hand, it is because of our population is high. On the other hand, the more important is because that anti-collapse capacity of building structure in our country is not enough. Therefore, it is necessary to study the collapse mechanism of the building structure, judge the critical state of collapse, choose appropriate collapse criterion and improve the anti collapse ability of the structure. SRC frame-RC core wall hybrid structure is studied in this article. Finite element method is adopted to carry out numerical simulation. The main work and research results are as follows:(1) The floor thickness, the core tube thickness, the structure height width ratio and the layout of core tube are considered on the modal analysis. The ratio of two self vibration period, which is dominated by torsion and translation, is less than 0.85 and it meets the requirements of the specification. It shows that the structure plane layout is reasonable, and the effect of torsion on the structure is small.(2) To study the variable regularity of structural dynamic characteristics on different damage conditions. Pre-damage method is adopted on SRC frame-RC core wall hybrid structure. Different damage conditions are considered to research the relationship between damage index and structural dynamic characteristics. Conclusions are made for damage model under earthquake of SRC frame-RC core wall hybrid structure based on dynamic property.(3) To judge damage of structure better according to damage index. Table of quantitative analysis of damage index of SRC frame-RC core wall hybrid structure is suggested and given, which makes us get to know damage severity of the structure intuitively. according to damage index. And some methods are put forward to improve the mechanical performance of the structure and to improve the damage resistance ability of the hybrid structure according to the proposed damage model and the characteristics of structural collapse.
