Spherical reticulated shell has been widely applied and popularized because of its architectural appearance, reasonable structure and good economic effect. Rectangular building plane is most common in the practical engineering, and with the constant improvement of the people’s req uirements to the building function, the form of building structure also has become increasingly complex and diverse. The form of the traditional round bottom spherical reticulated shell has been unable to meet the requirements of architectural diversity. T herefore, it is necessary to study the static performance and stability of single-layer reticulated spherical shells with rectangular bottom.The research on static performance and stability of common single-layer spherical reticulated shell with round bot tom has been relatively mature, but the research on single-layer reticulated spherical shells with rectangular bottom is very little.In this paper, the static performance and stability of the rectangular bottom spherical reticulated shell is systematicall y studied by using the general finite element analysis software ANSYS. This paper mainly complete s the following work:Firstly, the nonlinear stability of three common grid layouts on single-layer reticulated spherical shells with rectangular bottom is analyzed and compared and a rational grid configuration is determined. Then the deep and systematical research is carried on. From the large-scale parameter analysis, the rectangular bottom static stability of single-layer spherical reticulated shell is systematically studied, including the influence of the bar section, initial geometric imperfection, asymmetric load distribution and boundary constraints, three-dimensional truss stiffness to the ultimate bearing capacity. Based on a large number of calculation s for regression analysis, the ultimate bearing capacity fitting formula of rectangular bottom reticulated spherical shell is put forward.Then, the static stability of the semi-rigid node single-layer three-dimensional reticulated spherical shells with rectangular bottom is studied, including the effects of the node geometric parameters, the initial defects and unsymmetrical distribution of loads on the ultimate loads of the semi-rigid node three-dimensional single-layer reticulated spherical shells with rectangular bottom.Finally, on the base of considering the geometric nonlinearity, this paper further detailedly studied the effect of the material nonlinearity and the members buckling on the ultimate loads of single-layer three-dimensional reticulated spherical shells with rectangular bottom. And effective measures to improve the ultimate bearing capacity of the reticulated shell are put forward.The research in this paper could provide theoretical guidance and reference for the engineering application promotion of this structure form.
