Vehicle cooling system plays an important role in the normal performance of the engine. At present, Almost all of the engine manufacturers are constantly strengthening the engine,they are all face that how to solve the problem of cooling and heat balance of engine at high power density, in order to get a higher output power while taking into account the fuel consumption,both have to ensure the exhaust emissions in line of the national environmental regulations.All of those make a new requirement for the cooling system that it should be efficient, reliable, economical and environment-friendly, which has become a key to achieve further technological breakthroughs for the engine.This paper reviews the problem of the presence of high water temperature in small sea lions matching YC4FB90 engine,in the environment of high temperature and high speed of continuons climbing slope, based on the practical engineering problem. The market demand of maintaining the structure of the body and taking into account the new production of vehicle improvement and after sale, achieving their goals with minimal changes in the shortest time.Proposed for the high temperature of the solution to the problem,it depend on actual vehicle use situation investigation,the engine with high temperature of endurance test and cooling performance matching optimization analysis,simulation environmental test conditions in real vehicle cooling/heat harm test combing research methord.Firstly, to analyzes the key factors of affecting the engine cooling system and the key parameters on the performance of the cooling system. Then, according to the conditions, determine the test specifications and make examine experiment for the original vehicle cooling system. And finally, by the experiment and numerical analysis, analyzes the reasons of the high cooling water temperature, and put forward the improvement scheme, and verify new cooling system with the reliability test of the cooling system.By the matching analysis of the original vehicle test and values, it can be seen that the main reason which causes higher temperature of cooling system is the resistance of the inlet air in the intercooler and the heat transfer from the intercooler to radiator. According to the high temperature of engine test, it can be considered the engine cooling water control strategy is too conservative, so, the long-term allowable water temperature of engine can be increased and set to 110℃. The structure and layout of the intercooler can be considered to be further optimized. The test and experiment results show that the above measures and methods for improvement can basically solve the problem of higher temperature of engine cooling system.
